Flood Zones Can't Stop A VanHome

Flood Zones Can't Stop A VanHome

Due to the Building Code of Australia (BCA), building in a flood-prone area can be a very difficult and time-consuming process for many.

However, as a VanHome is a legally registrable caravan, it doesn't have to comply with the BCA on flood-prone land in NSW, as long as it's being used within the exemption on our council bypass page.

With VanHomes, you won't have to worry about jumping through the hoops of the BCA to install your VanHome in a flood-prone area in New South Wales.

Watch how we installed a two-bedroom granny flat in a flood zone with ease in the video below.

Fast Relocation

Due to the innovative design of our models, VanHomes can be packed up in a very short time and are easily relocatable.

Elevation

VanHomes rest at a minimum of 840mm and up to 1.1m maximum. Most hard annexes are built at ground level and are the first to succumb to a flood. VanHomes are all made on a single level so that this does not happen.

Emergency Accommodation

Rebuilding or renovating after a flood? Use a VanHome to accommodate your family during this process, and have the flexibility of selling it, relocating it or even keeping it as a Granny Flat for the family once you've finished.

Can a VanHome be insured for flood cover?

Yes, they can be, for more information about the coverage offered by the NRMA, click here.

Can a VanHome be placed in a caravan park?

As long as your site is approved for a caravan, you can put a VanHome on that site without any approval from the council (in NSW). You can read more about this legislation by clicking here.
